Dropping the rule into his bag he retrieves a pair of wire-cutters and hooks one handle into the pocket of his overalls.

The policeman strains hard until suddenly the pole holding the door closed folds with a screech and drops noisily to the ground. Released, the door springs open a few inches. But with nothing to hold it in place it bangs closed again a moment later. At that moment, from the other side of the door, there's the unmistakable sound of a gun being fired.
